Celtic Cross

This Celtic Cross is the secret piece I've been working on for a friend. Now that it has been received, I can share it with everyone else. I truly enjoyed stitching this and plan to stitch it for myself some day. It is one of the few pieces I'm willing to do twice!

Chatelaine's Mini Mandala 2

I just completed this piece. I found that the gold backstitching around the fence and gate didn't look quite right to me. More or less it was the type of floss being used. The sparkle of the metallic would have been lovely but the floss was too wide and flat and simply did not "lay" right according to my preferences. Still, Martina Weber did a fantastic job designing this lovely little piece. I look forward to doing the 3rd mandala in the near future.

Bouquet

This is another hardanger learning kit by Victoria Sampler. I had a few difficulties with the dove's eyes at first, but as I went on, they got better. I actually found a way that worked well for me and made every dove's eye easy. I think it turned out quite well.

Hummingbirds and Morning Glories

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is such a cute little piece. The linen was a bit difficult to work on. It was just so delicate! However, I'm pleased with the end result even if I did scan it a bit lopsided. LOL

Lavender Summer

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is the latest kit I completed from Victoria Sampler. I love the purples and greens in this piece and just for the sake of scanning, I placed dark purple fabric behind it to show the weaving and doves eyes, etc. I did mess up on the bottom left dove's eye though. I must have restitched that one 5 different times before giving up. It never fails, I mess up one thing in each of these pieces. <sigh>

This little guy was stitched on 40 count silk gauze. His little head is only 1.25 inches (3.175 cm) wide. I really love the effect of the silk gauze kits. It almost looks as if the stitched area is floating in the mat. However, one could easily go blind trying to stitch over 1 on 40 ct silk gauze that is barely there to begin with! If the eyes were gold instead of green, he'd look just like my cat Meeko.

Floral Heart

This piece is #6 in the Victoria Sampler Beyond Cross Stitch series with hardanger. While I find the eyelets, kloster blocks and woven bars easy, I did have trouble with learning the picots. However, it was a bit easier dealing with the Dove's eyes this time around even though there was an abundance of them. :) I will admit that I have every intention of avoiding picots for some time to come. :)

On to the next piece!
